The analysis conducted show that the different innovation activity areas of the companies in the EU countries are relatively equally represented, which is a positive trend in view of their complementary nature and different potential to increase the efficiency, competitiveness and export potential of the enterprises. Amore diverse distribution structure in the different directions of the four types of innovation among enterprises is observed. Although it is not possible to identify a common pattern of distribution of the four types of innovation in the countries of the European Union, the differences between the countries are not large.
