The comparative advantages of countries in international trade and their quantification

The article attempts to review the development of comparative advantages as a scientific concept and discusses the most commonly used approach to their quantification. Taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of the most common comparative advantages in the empirical research, it is concluded that the widest usability and rich analytical potential has the original Balasha index. Combined is a comprehensive qualitative analysis, the quantification of comparative advantages over a longer period of time, and on the basis of more detailed statistical data, can be a reliable tool in building the country's strategic economic policy.
